The messenger strand of the “Figure-8” cable is terminated into dead end fittings, which engage pole fixtures and maintain the tensile loading of the span. The dead end fitting consists of spirally formed high strength steel wires, which are applied to the bare messenger strand in two wraps. This type of dead-end can be used to terminate a messenger strand onto guy hook or pole clamp.
